African landscapes, palm forest, swimming in the river and sea, Orthodox monastery, gorge, village and unique landscapes!

With a palm grove, saltwater lagoon and dramatic Cretan gorge as scenery, Preveli Beach, in southern Crete, takes exotic to another level!

We drive west and from the city of Rethymno, we head towards the south to the most beautiful palm beach of Crete and one of the most important monasteries.

Along the way, we will cross small traditional villages, gorges, olive groves, carob trees and enjoy landscapes of unique beauty and different from those of northern Crete.

First of all, we will make a short stop in the middle of the impressive “Kourtaliotiko” Canyon which seems to come from a western American cinema and we will take beautiful pictures.

In the famous Preveli Orthodox male monastery, we will admire the architecture, the wonderful images and we will feel the tranquillity of the place.

The monastery has an ecclesiastical museum and a small zoo with ducks, geese, peacocks, pigeons, turkeys, deer, llamas, the Cretan wild goats Kri-kri, and many cats as well.

After walking for about 15 minutes on an easy path, you will find the incredible Preveli palm beach.

We will enjoy swimming in the river and in the crystal clear waters of the Libyan Sea, explore the tropical palm forest and relax in the unique African landscape.

We stay on the beach for three and a half hours.

In Palm Beach there are canteens where you can have a light meal (not included at the price of the excursion).

Our last stop is in the traditional picturesque village of Spili. There we will be refreshed at the 25 lion-shaped fountains, which bring crystalline drinking water from Psiloritis Mountain and we will have free time for a walk, a coffee and shopping in the traditional local shops.
