Gramvoussa - Ballos (the blue lagoon)
We travel through the most beautiful and greenest part of Crete to the westernmost port of Kissamos (Kastelli).
We sail for an hour into the bay to the small island of Gramvoussa. On our arrival we can take a short walk up, about 15 minutes, to the Venetian fortress of the 16th century, built on top of a steep, 137 meters high rock, which once belonged to Pirates and was used as a refuge for Cretans during the Greek War of Independence against the ottoman conquerors.
You will be impressed by its size and by the beautiful view of the three seas that meet at that point. Apart from the visit to the fortress, you can also swim or lay on the beach.
We sail for 15 more minutes and we reach the famous lagoon of Ballos, where we stay for about three hours. We swim in the crystal clear water, enjoying the wild pristine beauty and the wonderful exotic landscape.
This beach with the white sand and the turquoise waters is rightfully called the Caribbean of Europe. Ballos is definitely one of the most beautiful places in Greece and it is protected by the European Union Program “Natura 2000”.
It’s also an ideal destination for children thanks to the shallow waters.
On board, we can have a snack or a complete meal as well as drinks (not included in the price of the excursion).
Gramvoussa – Ballos: The excursion combines: bus trip, nice cruise, striking landscapes, Venetian fortress and swimming.
